2024 ABMB Board of Directors
ABMB provides leadership through a governance board whose primary tasks involve the following: Upholding the MISSION, clarifying the VISION, DELEGATING responsibility to the director, PROTECTING the finances, and providing ACCOUNTABILITY through monitoring.
The Board members are nominated by a committee external from the Board and presented and elected at our annual convention. Board members can serve up to three two-year terms. Through a process of application and references, each one is carefully and prayerfully considered before being presented as nominees.

Barclay Tanner
Deryle Penner
Member at Large
After growing up in a Christian Mennonite home, Deryle became a prodigal until a Billy Graham Crusade in Calgary started him on his journey to restoration. He eventually completed a Bachelor of Religious Education in Pastoral Studies, settled in the Sexsmith area, and joined La Glace Bible Fellowship. Deryle’s faith has matured through the many years he has spent volunteering at his church in various roles including preaching, teaching, leading a care group, and moderator of the board. He is excited to bring a rural church perspective on issues such as leadership care, vision and transition to the ABMB Board.
Dele Ajele
Treasurer
Dele Ajele of Calgary, Summit Church, is currently the executive director and franchise owner of BNI Alberta South Calgary. He and his wife Moji have significant experience in church leadership and are currently involved in their home church (Summit Calgary), serving in leadership on the board and in preaching teaching and small group ministry.
Donna- Lynn Ratzlaff
Member at Large
Donna-Lynn, from Linden MB Church, has been part of an MB church her whole life and has been involved in many ministries through the years. Her experience in ministry includes care groups, leading Sunday school, and serving as a member of the church leadership team. She enjoys being part of a team and desires to see people grow in wisdom and knowledge of the Lord and is always looking to God for what next steps might be.
Fred Weiss
Moderator
Fred, from Mission Hill Church, Calgary currently works in leadership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse Canada. He has served on church boards from the age of 20. Fred has a zeal for prayer, and a desire to know God, and God’s word more.
Jason Schellenberg
Assistant Moderator
Jason is a husband to Nadine, and father to four daughters. He is a high school teacher in Vauxhall and holds a B.Sc/B.Ed. from the University of Lethbridge, and a Bible Discovery Certificate from Briercrest Bible College. Jason is currently serving on the board at Vauxhall Community Church and preaches regularly as well.
Scott Voegtlin
Board Trainee
Scott has been a part of the MB conference for his whole life and volunteered at many positions at his church. His ministry experience involves volunteering his time for kids’ church and more recently as a youth leader, a position which continues 7 years later. He is enthusiastic about teaching the next generation of believers about their heritage and convictions as they progress into a new stage of life.
Barclay Tanner
Member at Large
Barclay grew up in a Christian home and decided to follow Jesus at an early age. Both difficult circumstances and attending university served to deepen and solidify his faith. As his career evolved, God gave him a passion to work with and through people. He has been involved in leadership at church and in his career for many years, including Vertical Church since it started in 2017. Strong people skills, a desire to lead the next generation, as well as a desire for people to meet Jesus and an ability to explain his faith in a simple way are a few of the strengths that Barclay brings to the ABMB Board.
