VERTICAL CHURCH PROFILE
Vertical Church began as a bible study in a home in the Fall of 2015. By September 2016 they had outgrown the home and began meeting in the church building they are currently using. Their first official service was in January 2017 and the church began to grow as people were coming to Christ and being baptized. For a small church, they have had a significant connection with their community by acting as an emergency shelter for the Kenow Wildfire (2017) as well as the town’s Food Bank (2018-2020). Service is at the heart of Vertical. The founding pastor and his wife moved to Nova Scotia to church plant just before Covid hit in March this year.
The ABMB Conference helped Vertical with finding a Transitional Pastor and in the late Spring they went through an assessment to help identify the next steps for the church. It was determined that they needed to take the time to reestablish their Mission and Vision and then reset for the next chapter as a church, which includes looking for their next Lead Pastor who can help them accomplish their Mission/Vision as a church.
PINCHER CREEK PROFILE
Pincher Creek is home to a colorful history, vibrant culture and is perfectly located in the centre of adventure. Nestled in stunning natural beauty, Pincher Creek offers a welcoming atmosphere with legendary southwestern Albertan service.
The expansive natural landscape, history of this area and surrounding tourism attractions along with the entrepreneurial spirit of the community has created a centre for southern Albertans and visitors to gather.
Pincher Creek is surrounded by southern Alberta’s prime farming and ranching land as well as the Piikani First Nation, a part of the Blackfoot Confederacy. The local economy is primarily driven by the agriculture, wind energy and natural resource industries. In recent years, economic growth has occurred in the tourism industry and related businesses. The diversity of the population (long time ranching and farming families, families who have moved to the area for the mountain landscape and First Nations peoples) provides some unique ministry opportunities.
The town of Pincher Creek is home to more than 3500 residents but serves as the trading hub for a much larger area. Pincher Creek offers many services including two grocery stores, three schools (two public and one separate), many extra-curricular opportunities for children (skating, hockey, dance, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Football, school sports, music lessons, archery, swimming, etc), a hospital with many long serving doctors and tons of hiking, skiing, camping and boating opportunities.
